This week Danya had our attention captured with traditional Korean string games. She was very organised with little bags of string for everyone. We learnt how to do the 'Cat's Cradle' in pairs. Then Isabelle wowed us with her piano skills. She taught several students how to play a basic tune and had organised a musical word find for those waiting. I love Teach Me Tuesday!
Room 3 is a Year 3/4 class from Auckland, NZ. May the force be with you!

Mystery Skype
Last Friday we did a Mystery Skype with another school. We had to ask each other questions to guess where we lived and then what schools we went to. Each person had a special job to do. We had to wear our jumpers backwards or take off our school shirts so they couldn't see our school name on our uniform! Our MS school was Tahatai Coast school in Papamoa. We can't wait to do a MS again.
Teach Me Tuesday Week 7 & 8
Room 4 joined us for TMT in week 7. The students were split across the two lessons. Zoe started teaching us how to paper mache balloons in order to make an octopus. This is a long process so we will have to finish these over a few weeks. Troy took another group outside and taught them basketball skills. Today Ian and Aryaan taught us how to play Mine Caves on the computer. Then Emily had us folding paper and cutting out the Chinese character 'Xi', which is hung when couples get married.

Basketball Skills
We've been working with coach Chanel from the Breakers to learn some basketball skills. Here's some things we've learnt so far:
You hold the ball with two hands, one on each side - Olivia
Bounce the ball with your finger tips, not your palm - Chloe
To shoot you need to make an L then an R with your arm - Nikhil
You dribble the ball up to your waist - Troy
Put two hands on the ball and then put the hand you write with on the top to shoot - Dylan
You need to keep your head up when you're dribbling so you can see where you're going - Zoe

Room 3 and 4's Fear Factor
Room 3 and 4 completed a rotation of activities to test out their courage. We had to try foods blind folded, sing in front of others, pop a balloon with a part of our body, put our hands in to unknown things and see how long we could last in a bucket of icy cold water! We're going to make our own Fear Factor challenges for the Unitastic block in the next few weeks.

El Presidentes Week 4-6
Sorry everyone! Mrs B has been a bit slack. Here are the EP's for weeks 4, 5 & 6
Teach Me Tuesday Week 6
At the end of last week, we caught up on Breanna's TMT, as she had missed her slot the previous Tuesday. Luckily it was a beautiful day and she had organised for us to play a game of Simpsons. Isabelle was taking some great photos and she became the 'video referee' to help us make some decisions about who was first in the centre. Today we were treated to an array of beautiful birds. Chloe and her Nanny (aka The Bird Lady) taught us how to care for injured birds and how some of them came to be - like the Morepork (Ruru) who became stuck in the 'sticky tree' and will have to say with Chloe's Nanny until it has cleaned all of it's feathers properly.
